Horsepower and Torque through Bravo 1

Does anybody know how much HP and Torque I can put through a Bravo 1. I won't be doing any hole shots and will back off if I catch some air.

Thanks

they are rated to 500hp. It seems to depend on the boat. The bigger and heavier the boat the less HP you can put thru it. If you say have a 50' nortech with bravos 500hp is gonna pop em. But you could run 650hp on an 18' runabout and be fine.

MIKEHTMSR24 02-04-2002 09:57 AM

683hp @ 5680 and 676 torq @ 4700
4500 lb cat
1.36 drive

26 pitch 4 blade

how much does 37 OL with twins weigh??? 12k seems real heavy. The added engine and drive would only be 2000lbs more. that woudl make a standard 37' ol around 10k and i know they can't wieght that much. A 38' kv scarab wieghs 9100 and they are 10 years old???

Thanks for the input.
Working with a 25' Formula deep vee...
Sounds to me like it might be right on the edge. Boat does weigh 4200 lbs.
Any insight appreciated

shiekman how much power are you planning on putting through the bravo?

sheikman 02-07-2002 01:34 PM

Puder, my spelling ACE....
Going to put about 530hp through the drive, around 650lbs of torque..
This is my project for the winter so hang on!
I think I should see around 70+

Time will tell.

Sheikman I put 547hp and 602# through 13 year old bravos and so far so good. Twins on a old Fountian my guess is 8000# for weight. They have held up and I pound em all the time. Thet are going in to be torn down and checked out this weekend. I'll let you know how they look.

sheik you should be fine with that much power and a bravo. You prolly won't even have to baby it that much.

I have a 632 10.5 /1 Naturally aspirated pump gas motor putting 900 hp and 806 ft/# through my bravo. Had 1 floor seperate @4 hrs mainly due to factory set-up "loose". No problems since fix and corrected set-up. (drive does have hard shafts throughout) Here are the killers in my opinion, BIG TORQUE I.E. "Hot" blower motors and even more so...in and out of waves. I have a high "X" so the prop will "momentairly" come out when rough chop / small waves are encountered even when you don't feel anything from the hull. You have to pick and choose your water.

just keep me on retainor to fix your blown drives chasing both of my cats :D

WETTE VETTE 02-08-2002 09:18 PM

Hey merlin, have you looked at the old short shaft drive jdnca dropped off last week? I think the cone clutch may be toast from dropping it in gear at too high of rpm. Damn those big roller cams! Have you got headers for your new Skater yet? I saw some new big tubes today 4,000/set.
later!
Whats up jdnca?
