upper steering shaft seal

sorry

No part #'s as I am at work...and I believe this is changed from the outside. I don't remeber off the top of my head, but I think the tiller arm has to be removed from the inside of the transom assembly. However, you need to make or use a special puller on the pin. The pin is hardened and pressed in ALUMINUM. By the time I bought the tool and did it myself and possible took a chance on busting the Al transom assembly, I figured I was money ahead to let a mechanic do it. If he broke the assembly, I'm not out huge $$$$. The job was EXPENSIVE. Something like $600. Merc thinks that pin is made of gold ( I had to replace mine and the seal). Pin was like $240. If I'd a known that, would have made my own and case hardened it myslef...

Good luck,

Zack
