Whipple Intercooler comparision
I presently have a 3.3L Whipple with their intercooler. I know they have a larger intercooler, but I'm not sure if it will really help me much. It's sitting on top of a new 540 with new AL heads, and solid lifters. Last year we had a 502 with similar setup that made 760HP. I'm looking to make 900Hp now on 93 octane. 1000HP on 110.
Has anyone done a head to head comparison of the two intercoolers? If I knew the difference in boost PSI between the two intercooler with similar setups I could decide. Dustin said I need the larger one, but can't provide any solid proof. If I knew it lowered the boost X number of pounds it might be worth it. |
Bigger is always better. It may not help much in the HP range but it will give you a bigger safety buffer before detonation sets in.
Sorry could not be any more help that that. |
If you can measure your air temperature in the manifold after the intercooler and the temperature is above 140 degrees during hard acceleration you should get a bigger intercooler.
