Polyester gel over marine tex
I have a number of scrapes or screw holes that have been repaired/filled with marine epoxy, marine tex. Although the marine tex is white, it looks crappy. I would like to finish these areas off with either gel coat or something that will give a similar like new result. However, I remember reading somewhere that one should not go over epoxy with polyester gel/resin. Is that true? If so, what might I use to repair these epoxy filled areas to like new condition? Some of these areas are under the water line, like on the keel from trailer debacles. Any ideas?

Maybe the "naked girl" thing would work here ;) |

Must be no one repairs their glass or gel....just let it go to chitt.
Tampons looks like the fix. Happy tuna fishing :fish:  |
I've never used gel over epoxy. I'd expect that it would work fine as long as the epoxy was fully cured and wiped with a solvent that was friendly with gel.
If there is still any sort of chemical activity going on with the epoxy, I would not attempt it. |
