Air-Dock boat lift
I'm considering purchasing an Air-Dock boat lift. Price is right and seems to do the job for those of us hoping to keep are hull bottom clean of algae. Does anyone have any experience with this product. Good and Bad.

I just bought one for my 24ft.
Its sitting in my garage in boxes. Seems easy enough to assemble. And you are correct... the price is right. I'm pumped to get it put together and dumped in. |
Is that your 'Sun Lift' brand? Where two sponsons are pushed into the water and raise the boat? They look like a great lift, but are not designed for rough water.FYI

AIR DOCK
I HAVE OWNED ONE FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS AND USE IT IN THE HUDSON RIVER, IT LIFTED MY 27 FT FORMULA AND NOW IT LIFTS MY 29 FT FORMULA. IT KEEPS THE BOAT VERY CLEAN AND IT MAKES IT EASY TO GET INTO THE BOAT WITH THE 7 FT TIDES.
THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THE RINGS THAT YOU TIE THE RAFT TO THE DOCK, TWO OF THEM RIPED OFF AFTER 3 YEARS, THE COMPANY SENT ME REPLACEMENTS AT NO CHARGE. I THINK IT WORKS GREAT . |
I've had one for the past two years in the Potomac River. Works great lifting my 38 Sonic. The biggest problem was building the frame and transporting it to the marina. Did part of it at home in the driveway then cememted the rest of it together at the marina. It took 2 of us about 2.5 hrs to put the bags together on the lawn at my marina and get them in the water. Kenny at Air Dock was a great help in answering questions (some in real time on my cell phone!!). Tip: if you decide to leave it in the water during the off-season (if you have one like we do), be sure to have it inflated. I left mine uninflated so it was mostly submerged which caused alot of sediment to settle on it. Not too big a problem to clean; but time consuming.

How are they in rough water?

I have seen a 30 ft parasail boat in my marina with a large black "bag" looking thing that they just pulled up on and inflated. Didn't look like it lifted the boat Totally out of the water, but transom and outdrive were out. Is this the Air Dock?? If not, has anyone seen this system, any pro's/con's. Price??

I'm in the process of putting a frame together.
Not a big deal. I'll glue most of it together in the garage, and then the rest at the marina. I've got 2+ weeks till its in the water, so I'll let you know more then. Ken is great customer service at Air Dock. I'm sure I've been a real pain in the @ss w/ questions, and he's been nothing but a great help. :D |
My Air Dock rode out Hurricane Isabel with no probs. The winds in my marina were pretty strong and the tide was horrendous (slips came within about 2-3 ft of breaching the 100 year tide pilings).
If winds are strong or water is really rough, tie off your boat along with the Air Dock and it will ride just fine. I always tie off both boat and Air Dock. |
Re: Air-Dock boat lift
Works Great, assembled in about 2 ez hours with a couple of friends and a case of beer...inflates in 3 minutes and deflates in about the time it takes to load up and go...
