Sea Strainers????????
Can I run a sea strainer in between a stock Bravo 1 and a 500 efi sea water pump?
Or better yet, does the Bravo 1 need water through the drive to cool it or can I bypass the drive and use offshore pickups? I want to avoid some of the sand pickup problems I'm having with low water pickups. |
Avoid shallow water to rid sand problem:D :D :D
You can bypass the drive and use other pickups; the water running thru the drive does however have a cooling effect how much or how important I'm not sure. I ran the drive water thru a dump in the transom and pretended I had intercoolers. |
The water is low everywhere in the west now.
Just trying to give myself a little more insurance. |
I cut the hose in the transom assy with hose cutters. The water flows thru and cools the drive. I'd run thru hulls on everything incl alpha. I leave the alpha impellor in and cut the hose to cool drive. With this a seawater pump and related brackets and plumbing is necessary. Due to areas like mine with seaweed, I use a wedge strainer and a groco 1 and 1/4" basket strainer also. With 500 + horsies you should probably go to 1 and 1/2" thru hull and related components to insure adequate H20 flow... BBB
