Engine paint ?

I am getting ready to reassemble my SBC and have the following questions. Is it recomended to paint new aluminum heads and intake even if it is a fresh water boat. I have heard that they will turn a whiteish color if you don't.

I dont have aluminum heads but i painted my Edelbrock intakes and they have no problems.....even in the salt the two times i was in there :D

I have dart 360's and a dart tunnel ram...No signs of any discoloration...besides aluminum heads are just look to cool to paint over ;)
