alpha lowers
OK heres the deal. i have an 85 chris scorpion with the original gen1 alphas on it. i hava a line on a lower that i am pretty sure is a late 90's or so alpha. will that late of a lower fit on my early drive. thanks guys

Only if its a Gen 1 lower. Can't put a Gen 2 lower on.
thanks MT . . thats what i needed to know. i dont have the benifit of being able to compare the two side by side before i buy. my boat has the original gen1's and the drive in question came off a late 90's donzi classic i believe. thanks.

Put a counter-rotation lower on the port side, if the boat rolls to the left it may stop it. Boat will handle better too, docking and under way.
i was thinking of doing that but was having trouble locating a gen1 lefty. boat seems to handle pretty well now but it would be nice have a counter rotator on it.
Have a good drive shop make one up. It may cost a bit though! BBB

BTW does anybody know the year they stoped making the gen1 alpha
so you can change just the lower and make the drive counter rotate???
thats correct twin. the counter rotation is in the lower. i think there is a few more minor things like cable orientation. but the lower itself handels left or right rotation
91 was end of gen1 in new boats.
thanks BBB
by the way, anybody have an idea what my case ratio is. its the stock merc 260 hp small block chev 1985 gen1 alpha. thanks
I looked at an 85ish 26 CC scorpion with a gen two drive on the counter rotating side. I'm not sure what they did but it can obviously be done.

my old formula 1985, had twin 260"s with the alpha's and they were 1.5 ratio, They have also came out with aftermarket alpha 1's, you can get a bran new lower for around 600.00, I bought a complete outdrive for I think 1100.00 stearndrive enginearing

F29- i just saw an aftermarket one on ebay priced about the same as you mentioned. you were pretty happy with it than i take it? i think it was an aftermaket case with merc internals. thanks for the info
