re-torque the heads

Do you retorque your heads.Last year I did not.I was thinking about doing it this time so should I fire her up on the hose and warm it up then retorque or would you wait and give her and day of open water and some WOT first. I am running the GM marine head gasket this year again. Thanks James

Never touch um after the initial install and initial retorque.

I never re-torque after the first re-torque during assembly...

That's how I do it. Torque in many steps up to desired torque. Then let sit over night and come back through and tap the head of each bolt with a hammer, then torque again to desired torque. I usually get a little out of a couple of the bolts the second time around. Just the same as when I used to run the engine, let cool and retorque. Just a whole lot easier.

Rather than tap the bolts... I just back them off and then re-torque. I'm used to finished chrome acorn head nuts... don't want to hammer them.....:p
