Freeze Plugs In Gill Manifolds ?

I noticed a slight seepage/paint bubbling in my HP 500 manifolds (Gill?).
What seems to be freeze plugs, underneath the paint, have philips type slots in the center. Do these unscrew or come out? Any ideas on how to seal these from seeping???

Thanks for the help!

Hi Chuck,

I posted this question about a week ago. No one seemed to have much to say! I would call Gil.
See ya Saturday.

I've seen freeze plugs in the older Offshore Gill manifolds but not the new ones.

When I took all the Gillcoat off of my Merc/Gils the I had to repair a couple of spots, but there were no freeze plugs.

Let us know what you find out.

My '94 Gils had freeze plugs. One manifold was still fully powdercoated with the freeze plugs being a flush surface type. They were still PC'ed coated too.
Other manifold must have had a leak with the original owner, as one of the motor side plugs were your standard recess looking plugs. They were not coated, but did have "GIL" stamped in them.
