pressure is much less important than flow. Good flow can occur at any pressure. I've always read that any pressure above 10 is just a waste of HP to pump it around. I'm not saying I would be comfortable with that at 5k but 40 will do anything that 80 will,,maybe better if it's moving more volume,which it probably is(low flow makes high pressure easy to attain).

Hey Stuphen,
maybe your oiling system is just less restrictive, actually making it better
My Gen VI easily runs over 60 lbs at 5000+ rpm. This is with an electrical gauge but it has shown the same in two different boats, two different gauges and senders.
This is just a Melling HV set to .003 clearance.
I also run #10 oil lines to the cooler and filter.
