Oil Filter Relocation

Am about ready to install EMI Thunder exhaust on a 502 that has the remote oil filter attached to the port exhaust manifold.
Has anyone remounted the oil filter in another location???. Are there aftermarket remote oil filter brackets available? Also, I would also like to move the mounting for the ignition module also from the port manifold also. Any ideas???

While I'm asking has anyone moved the water hose and the power steering hose from lying across the top of the engine to underneath? It looks like it would work but the hose off the oil cooler comes of up and would have to go 180 degrees to go under the engine.

As always thanks for the help and guidance. :) :) :)

I remounted my remote oil filter last year. I just made a bracket out of some angle iron and painted it. Mounted the bracket to the transom. Also screwed the ign. module to the transom as well. If you do this with the module, make sure to run the ground wire on the module to the steel mounting plate and then to another ground. Both the case and the actual module need to be grounded or it won't work. I figured this out after about 10 hrs. with a multi meter.

EMI thunders, have all the brackets for the relocating of oil filter, and shift linkage. But you have to order separately. But like Griff said. You can pretty much make them your self. If you choose to buy them. there around $50.oo or so.
Good luck ;)

Powerguy,
I had the same problem when I installed my Lightning headers. I fabricated a bracket out of some 2"wide flat stock. I primed & painted it and used stainless bolts to put the two pieces together.
The bracket bolts to the back of the port head, nice clean install and it is solid when I go to remove those overtightened oil filters!
I had thought of bolting to the transom but was afraid over time I would rip it out!
If You don't want to make one, check out Eddie Marine, I believe they sell a bracket designed to work with your setup, I just like to do things custom (overbuilt).

Thanks for the advice, especially on the ignotion module ground. Where did you mount the oil cooler on the transon and how long were the screws that you used.

TomR
Do you have a pic of what you did. On my boat it doesn't look loke thee is room to mount the oil cooler on the back of the port head. Is the cooler now vertical or horizontal?
