Tilt/trim correct hose?
454/330 TRS
I'm still sorting out the issues created by "Bubba" (my boats previous owner). There is one L-O-N-G trim/tilt hose that goes from the pump (mounted on starboard transom) to the feed block mounted above the transmission (a companion hose, albeit shorter, takes a different route, but ends up in the same place). The input block then connects to another set of hoses that feed the trim/tilt rams. This long hose, which appears to be newer, does not tighten completely at either end. The nut tightens, but the hose-ends are free to swivel in the housing. This seems to be caused by an o-ring at the end of the fitting. Also, the tips on the fittings appear to be "rolled" vs. "flared". The other (older) hose uses a standard flare-type fitting and tightens properly/solidly. Is this a new hose style used to replace older hoses or is it the wrong hose? Hope this all makes sense. Thanks in advance, D. Ocean Pompano Beach, FLA |
