I need help choosing the correct size \ brand of heads for 540 setup. Here's what I have so far:
- Gen VI (9.8 block) - Callies 4.25 crank - JE 4.500 dished pistons \ 6.385 rods - Crane 741 cam \ gold rockers Will be running 5 lbs boost. Desired Max RPM 5500-5600 I'm looking at AFR 315 cc flow, but not sure if I should go with 325 or 335cc? (Or different head altogether) What are your thoughts? |

Heads
Don't waste your money on aluminum heads. (Especially in salt water) With a blower you will never see a difference. Buy Merlin 325cc or 345cc heads. Install inconnel exhaust valves, severe duty intake valves, 10 degree locks & retainers, Isky 8005 springs, 150lb seat, 425 open, and go. Use the GM head gasket. It seals better than any other gasket for a blower with moderate boost.
Good luck, Make sure you check your plugs before too many wide open passes. |
315 AFR will work the best. Canfields 310cc is also a good choice.
