oil temperature sending unit
just got my oil temp gauge
where do i install the sending unit ?? 454 Gen IV thanks!!! Mark |
The easiest and I think also the best place is in the remote oil filter pad. This point measures the hot oil coming out of the pan. It will tell you the maximum temp of your oil before the cooler. There should be two plugs on the opposite side of the hoses going the the pad. Remove the plug opposite the line that sends oil to the pad. It is the hose that comes from the outside of the the adapter on the block. The other hose goes from the pad to the oil cooler. Good luck.

I don't have a remote oil filter as of yet -- possibly a future upgrade???
how about without the remote oil filter ?? |
Here is pic of mine. The remote filter is not in the stock location but, the plumbing is the same.

Mine's in the oil pan;) . But oil filter location is easier if doing in the boat;)
|
should have 2. one before and one after the cooler.
|
should i just tap it into the oil pan ??
|
there should be a couple pipe plugs on the oil pan rail right next to the lip of the pan i think that should b an ok spot.its where mine is
