Transom rot...
I found out today that our 1985 30 velocity has some serious transom rot. Am i to assume that the rear part of the stringers are going to be rotted as well? Anyone had to go through this before? Thanks for the help

Only way to really tell is to check. It would not be unlikely to see some rot at the end of stringers though. Rough way to start the summer. :(

Although I've not had to replace my transom, I've seen several done. I had major work done to mine over the winter (balsa work, forward engine compartment wall, total regel). They will most likely need to replace them anyway to get at the transom from the inside.
Shop around for the best value (price and quality). You'll get all ranges. You'll save a lot of money (about 1/2) if you strip the engine compartment bare and take off all the stuff hanging on the transom. I did mine in one weekend. |
It depends on how they made the boat. Only one way to find out :(
