Who's right : Merc or Dennis Moore?
I have been trying to fine tune the advance curve for my 383 (rebuilt Merc 5.7L) with the V8-22A, V8-24 and V8-HP TBIV modules.
Just discovered this morning that DM's book at page 192 lists the EXACT OPPOSITE curves for the V8-22 and V8-22A modules that are listed by Merc in Service Bulletin 95-11 And the difference is somewhat significant: according to Merc, V8-22 has 22* all in by 3400 whereas V8-22A has 22* all in by 4500. Anybody know who is right? Yeah, I know how to check it when I get to the boat, but that's not til next weekend? Also, does anyone know what Merc says the curve looks like for the V8-HP? |
Ask Dennis Moore. He has a website but I don't know what it is. Someone on the site will know I'm sure.

I don't know who's right, but I have found several errors in my Merc manual.
You can check the advance of each one with an adjustable timing light. |
