502 MPI IAC valve question

I removed the IAC valve from my 502 MPI plenum, while troubleshooting a wandering idle problem. The question is does anyone know if these valves (which are spring loaded) are supposed to be stiff when you move the motor driven seat up and down. Mine is very stiff and hard to move by hand. If its supposed to be that stiff than what good is the spring? It cannot overcome the seat stiffness in the electric motor? or should it move freely which may be my problem. I haven't checked out a new one yet.

Second Question Does anyone know the GM part number for this Idle air control valve motor? The merc number is 805224A1. I've been told this is a standard GM fuel injection part.

Lester:
If this is a idle air motor that is on the side of the throttle body with a multiwire connector, these are stepper motors and should not be pushed on hard manually, you can damage the motor. If this is the GM type you can change it out with the GM part just fine. These are the motors that were used on the LT1 and
LT4 corvette motors with later models being used on the GM 96-99 vortec v-8's. You should be able to match these up.
