fill it up, start motor, turn wheel back and forth making sure resivoir never goes dry the air will "bleed" out.

Do it with a friend it will go much smoother.

The R & L lines will not really ever bleed out completely on a full hydraulic setup. Yes, the pump/cooler/return circuit will self bleed if you don't allow the pump to "suck air" and foam up the oil, but nothing really helps get the air out of the long lines from the helm to the cylinders. Some air from the R & L lines will work itself back to the return line and back to the reservoir, but some will just travel back and forth between the cylinders and helm unless bled out (ITS style bleeder valve, cracking lines, etc.)

Keep in mind that I am talking about a "full hydraulic" helm system. A cable operated assist system, internal or external cylinders, has much shorter line lengths and may work most of the air out very simply by just filling and cycling the cylinders.
