Alpha I.D. help . . . . . again

hey guys. a few weeks ago i put up a thread on helping me identify an alpha gen1 lower so i could go out to one of the marinas i do biz with an dig one up. well i decided to pull my bad one an take it with me to match up and this is what i found.

the drive i found is dimensionally the same as the one i took off my boat except for a few differances. mine has a squared off cavitation plate and this one has a rounded off one. at the tip of the input drive shaft (where the splines are) there is a spring loaded pin that sticks out about 3/4 of an inch and mine does not have this. those are the only diferances i could find. is this still an alpha drive? thanks

the spring loaded pin is a model "R" drive. not as strong as an alpha and older. will fit on a alpha upper. Paul

I just went out and checked. The square cavitation plate is the Alpha, the other is the MR or Type1.

thanks guys. good info. they have one with the squared off plate but the skeg was kinda chewed. actually just the prop shaft is busted off on mine. is it possible to just swap the output shaft?
