What is normal operating temp for a 454cid boat

It runs about 150 degrees.

My 454 Mag MPI runs about 165-170. I think carb motors run a little cooler.

my 30 over 454Mag runs 165 170 like Dave. Carb motor, maybe 180 if I run it hard a while.

Maybe it does get a little hotter than 150, I will pay closer attention next time.

I wouldn't sweat it, running HOT is the enemy. I bet your gauge is a little stingy. Got good water out the exhaust, right?

Yes, plenty of water coming out the exhaust. I have heard the gauges are not all that accurate.

Carbed engines have a 140* T-stat. My 454 alway ran 145-155 on the guage.

this motor a 2000 8.2 EFI Volvo takes a 140 too
