Stern Drive Locking Devices
What brand do you guys use or recommend for protecting your stern drives. I just purchased a new IMCO SC and I would like to protect her the best I can.
Also who sells the devices. |
Well now that we know what you have we will be right over to help ourselves! I think there was a thread about that earlier, something about master keys? Sometimes a simpler approach might work. Look around McMaster Carr for some tamper proof nuts and use those as well. You are only trying to deter and slow down the thief. If they really want it it is gone.

I have and prefer the McGards because they are not noticable. If someone wants it, they will get it no matter what brand of locks are on it. The only thing that will be the difference between the different brands, will be the amount of time it takes to steal it. A buddy had McGards on his new boat and had no keys. We just used a dremel and cut the sleeve. About 10 min per drive. Besides, if they are going to steal it, I want them to get it so I can get a brand new drive and not leave me with a scratched up one after failing to get it. The lock is just to show the Ins. Co. I made an effort to secure them. Took picture too to keep on file.
