stupid newbe needs help on ss props
 

sorry for posting "fishing boat" related questions in this forum. but i need some help choosing s/s props for my boat.

i have a 30' grady white marlin.
10,000# loaded.
twin c/r yamaha 250's on the back.
currently running 13 3/4" x 17" aluminum props.
5500 rpm wot@36 knots{max speed}
4800 rpm cruise@28 knots
motors are mounted on the lowest of three positions on the stern.
i'm looking for a little edge

the question is,,,
i found a pair of 14" x 17" stilletto props for short money.
would going from 13 3/4x17 to--.14x17 stainless be a mistake??
i'm not trying to "hot rod" the boat,. but looking for a little more efficiantcy than the aluminum props.
some say,, you need to go down 1" pitch for s/s props?
others say go down 2" pitch.
others say go for it, and raise the motors up one hole, to reduce drag??

again sorry for the "slow boat" questions on the forum, and thanks for any help!

Now appologies required that is what the board is hear for. First off how low below the boat bottom is the prop shaft? IE if you were to draw a line from the bottom of the boat back were does the center of the prop shaft when it is trimmed level with the boats bottom. Too low you will be slow. Too high and you will not get bow lift or be able to plane off. There are some VERY good prop guys on this site.
