Speedmaster # 3. Will it bolt-up to a TRS?

Looking to replace my TRS drive. Will a Speedmaster # 3 bolt-up? If not, which Speedmaster or other drive will? Advantages/pitfalls?

Thanks in advance,

A #3 won't, a #2 will but since it is longer it will be too deep in the water. You will have to raise the x dimensions. That is a lot of work for a drive that is no longer made.

The Konrad 540 is a direct replacement for the TRS and they are MUCH stronger too!

I swapped out my old TRS drives last month and I've put 25 hrs on them so far this season. The Konrad drive is made to last THOUSANDS of hours. They are the drive of choice for the Navy SEAL boats.

Do a search here on Konrad there is quite a bit of info.

I'll post some pics later when the resize program is back up and running.

Danny Ocean:

Give a call to Konrad if you are serious about drives that fit easily into the TRS envelope. The 540 PRS exchanges quickly and is a stronger drive than the TRS without a doubt.

The conversion is done in one day with no transom conversion work.

Are Konrad parts interchangeable with Mercruiser or are their parts proprietary? If Konrad goes belly-up, will parts be available?

They have been around since the '20s and deal in Navy contracts. Probably as safe a bet for being around as you can get.

Biggus,

Did you see any performance improvement? Did it raise the X dimension?

Looked at Konrad and these are Awesome units!!!!! I talked with Fred Sparling for a while in detail and, in my opinion, the best way to go for a TRS replacement. Value for the money, the a great upgrade for the Bravo's etc. as well.

I Concur w/ Biggus on this one.

Panther, they have reports of 4 to 5 mph increase with the TRS Conversion. The best part............. no reglassing of the transom!!!!!!!!
