Engine Hatch Actuators

Is there anyone using two hatch actuators on a single hatch cover and having any problems with them?
My hatch actuator is to on one side and toward the back. When it is raised the opposite side of the hatch drupes and looks like !!##**!! plus it put's a lot of stress on the hinges. I can't put the actuator in the center as I have no space so I'm thinking two of them, one for each side.
Thanks,
Mike

Too Old ,
Thanks for chiming in. It looks like both of your actuators are in the back. How long is your engine hatch?
Thanks,
Mike

Hatch I have the same problem with my hatch. Mine has the actuator on one side and a gas shock on the other. I don't think the gas shock is long or strong enough. I was thinking of putting a longer and stronger gas shock on the other side.

Dave,
that sound like my exact set up with the gas shock and all. I'm leaning on two actuators as I think it would do the nicest job. Nothing looks more ****ty when you raise the engine cover to look or tinker with the engine and the hatch looks like a wet noodle. Too Old said his works good with two of them.

I have the identical problem and thought of using two and maybe blancing the speed so they went up exactly. Let me know what you do thanks Mike at [email protected]

I have same problem, I was thinking of putting some type of support beam across the hatch to stiffen it up.

I guess if your hatch is made out of fiberglass a support beam may be a little more difficult to do. Since mine is made out of wood it wouldn't be to difficult to make.

I had a similiar problem with my actuator. I finally broke down and got a set of Eddie Marine hydraulic hinges from TrickMarine. Check out this video of the hinges.
