Re: bravo 1 drive gear cases ?

We can do the uppers for $971. I hate to bring this up, but how much power are you running? Might be time to consider new upper gears too. You should also give Chris a call and see what he has. I don't have any rebuilt drives at this time, but it might be a better way to go.

mbam (marc) i am running stock 1998 502 efi. remember i'm looking for just to replace the cases(housings) not the gears , i'll use the gears from the original drive just want to transer them over to new shells.

Re: bravo 1 drive gear cases ?

Be sure to price the reassembly and setup before commiting to just buying new cases. I had a quote of $400 each just to reassemble my lowers that I had apart. With you considering 2 cases, both needing reassembled, shim kit and new seals, it might pay to buy a complete rebuilt or a slightly used drive.

What he said, it can however make sense if you are doing the work yourself.

If you can find someone that can fix a damaged tower in the upper, I'll give you one, you just pay shipping. I don't know if it can be fixed or not. The gears went out and the tower in the upper case was damage. It is from a 1998 boat that was always in fresh water. 608-751-4981

I was allerted of your post by RECKLESS. I have stumbeled upon two new drives, in a box last year after I spent $910 each for gears alone, to rebuild both my drives during the winter and one died 30 - 40 hours later (usage hours) when the new gears were put back in a case that wasn't right from ware to begin wiith. Might have lasted longer had I not screwed with it but it was to go none the less, they were both orig. in my 91 Hawaii.
I will send you a PM

26Sonic..

"i'll use the gears from the original drive just want to transer them over to new shells."
Easier said than done.. all those parts have to be set up right or they wont last long.

US! Fountain..
that is pretty pricey.. on the labor. I guess I should be charging more??

Mr G.

That's what I thought too! So I did what every other toolmaker would do.......make all the setup tooling and do the reassembly myself. Suprising how easy it really is. I did both of mine. I even found the backlash was way off from the factory on 1 of my lowers. With me being the owner and not assembling the drive as just another 'job to be done', I can say I spent way more time making sure everything was perfect and exact than what I would possibly recieve from a dealership.

On the uppers, did you find the driven gears were not equal distant from the centerline of the pinion gear?? Or didnt you get into the uppers?? I spend as much time as it takes to make it right. Like you said, some dont..
