Stereo Problems
 

Just installed new amps(2) sub(2) speakers(4) to my existing stereo. problem, i get a popping sound from them when activating any 120 ac or 12 dc switches from control panel. Also get this sound when activating the drive/trim tabs, but from no other switches on the dash. Sound is not continuos, it only accurs when the switch is thrown. The speakers that are connected to the radio itself do not make this sound. The radio is wired as an accesory in the control panel. Tried isolating the rca cables, as well as hard wiring the radio and amp to a neutral battery(not attached to boat) but get the same response. Have tried 12 volt.com to no avail. What could be happening??

I'm no expert, but it sounds like you need to go back and check all you wiring. Especially your grounds. Did you use quality components? What would your wires and connectors? I'd check my ground.

First check all your grounds. Were are the grounds going to? There are some tricks but lets check the install first.

Sorry, Cannot Respond At Work. Both Amps Are Ground Directly To One Battery. All Grounds On Engine For Trim Pumps Etc, Are Clean And Secure. The Radio Itself Is Ground To The Control Panel. This System Does Not Yet Have A Capacitor Installed In Line. Would That Matter??

No a capacitor will not help ya hear. Try grounding the head unit to the amps ground location. That will help, especially if the grounds are on different batteries. What you can do to test is to disconnect the ground at the barrier strip and then just run a jumper wire back to the battery that the amps go to. If that does not work then try power directly to the battery. You may be seeing a voltage drop when you activate your accessories. This very breif voltage drop could actually cause your stereo to shut off for a split second.
