Mercury HP525EFI Exhaust
What manufacturer does Mercury use for the exhaust on their HP525EFI motor?
I like the swept back design and long primary tubes. Russ |
Re: Mercury HP525EFI Exhaust
CMI!! I have a set on order for my new 598" NA motor. They look awesome and make great power in NA motors. They should be done very soon!!!

Re: Mercury HP525EFI Exhaust
Wette,
What do I refer to that style as what model? What do you mean "they should be done soon"? Is there a lead time? Did you buy direct? Can you share your pricing? Thanks! Russ |
Re: Mercury HP525EFI Exhaust
That is called sweeper exhaust by CMI. For a 598 you may want Sport Tubes. The exhaust on the 525 is proprietary to the 525 heads.

Re: Mercury HP525EFI Exhaust
Rick,
Checked out your ad in the classifieds. Is that the going rate for Sport Tubes? Russ |
Re: Mercury HP525EFI Exhaust
When I called CMI they said about 4,900.00 a set new, just like the ones that come on the merc 525.

Re: Mercury HP525EFI Exhaust
Did I understand you correctly, the heads on the 525 are a special design and the pattern on the headers will only fit a 525?

Re: Mercury HP525EFI Exhaust
I see the "E Tops" advertised for less than 2K. What is the difference between those and the ones that are $4900? Is there a performance difference?

Re: Mercury HP525EFI Exhaust
The heads on a 525 are made by Edelbrock, and unless they did something different just for a 525 which I seriously doubt, any BB header should fit. They prob raised the ext ports like the Merlin heads are, but the port location and header bolt pattern are the same. But...stranger things have happened. Might call Edelbrock to confirm. The cmi's prob have 32" runners vs the short runners the E tops have. I dont think they make the 2 piece split tubes any more.
