re- engine circ. pump
I read thru a bunch of previous posts on here regarding this topic but still am having problems. I bought an aftermarket pump for my 454 mag. I've done these a 100 times on cars. I'm getting a leak and it looks like it is from the back where the stainless plate is located. I took a part my old one to look at how the gasket is done. Would it be advisable to forget about using a gasket and just use RTV. Also, the rubber-type gaskets supplied with the kit don't seem to fit exactly right either, any problem with using std. automotive thin-style gaskets???
thanks... |
Re: re- engine circ. pump
Would not advise RTV for the potential pressures there. Suggest that you use the auto/paper gasket and a good contact/gasket glue. Make sure that the back plate is absolutely true and hasn't been over-torqued and dimpled. --- Jer

had that problem once and it ended up being a hairline crack in the new pump ....check it closely ....
