Anal or Crazy?
1 Attachment(s)
OK, I am far too detail oriented, from my car projects.
So before I took my trim tabs to get powdercoated. I wanted them to look good,so I spent way too much time sanding the casting marks off the tabs. They should be smooth as glass when they get back from the powdercoater. In Black. Am I anal, or crazy? DS |
Re: Anal or Crazy?
No problem , what ever floats your boat . I restored a 57 Chevy convertible to the last nut and bolt , so I know detail too. I try with my boat too , but then stick it in scuzzy water or have an oil leak in the freshly cleaned and painted bilge. It makes it hard

Re: Anal or Crazy?
Man, I had to wonder for minute if my wife titled this thread. That's all I hear from her is how anal I am about the boat. One reason is, it's just in my genes. Dad raced boats for years and I came up through NHRA and outboard tunnels. Everything has to be rigged just so. Wife says I embarass her when we have friends on the boat. Oh well - that's why I get compliments all the time about how great that "old" '89 Formula 311 looks. Here's to Anal Retentives Anonymous!

Re: Anal or Crazy?
I did the same thing and I lost 2mph. It was the suction effect I was told from the race team. It should look great though... Just f##king with you, I made that all up, freaked you out though. I would probably do the same, I just spent the day polishing the lower unit and the tabs.

Re: Anal or Crazy?
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right.

Re: Anal or Crazy?
The smoother they are... the more even the powder coating and the easier they are to keep clean.... but yeah... you are anal....
