vee drives

with regards to a prior post, the sound of a grinding bearing has returned! again the mechanic came to listen the problem. he advised that a spring coupler is sticking? he also mentioned that the idle was too low. once we bumped the throttle up a hair the noise goes away. anyone heard of this? or anyone got a picture of this coupler. he advised that there is no danger and to try it out on the lake. any thoughts .

It's common, lots of gears with back lash. At idle they kind of dance around. Sam issues with the newer Hurth & Velvet Drive 5000 series. There is an elastomeric coupler that will get rid of some of the rattle, but aside from being annoying it should not be problem.
