Bad slipping before it gets on plane?

Hi, I am new here and hope I can get some help.I am running a 2000 27' warlock V. 509 c.i. alum. head whippled bbc, bravo xr,imco lower and 1" spacer.the boat has great top end(82 mph 4 people and 3/4 tank @6psi.)problem is it sucks getting up!trim drive down hold it at 2,000 till it starts to lay over then lay into it,sounds ok ,but this takes about 2 min.If the waters rough its twice as bad.The prop is a merc. 32p.with a solid hub.I will be trying a 30p an a 28p next week. I just wanted to know if it could be something else.thanks in advance for any help. :)

When you say "slipping" do the engine rpms go up fast like the prop is cavitating? If so check for mechanical failure in the drive. Cracked bearing, bent prop shaft ect.... That is a possibility. Is your prop hub pressed in? If so, put corresponding hash marks on the prop and hub. Run your boat and then check for hub slippage by again checking the hash mark alignment. Just a couple of mechanical things to rule out.

I didn't say which prop you were using, so I have to assume that it's a bravo 1. If so, then that prop is one of the better planing props out there. The maximus may plane better with the additional blade. After that your only choice is to set the drive deeper, use the tabs, or add a extension box.

Actually there may be other options available. I'm certainly no prop expert but I did experience the same kind of problem getting on plane and I had cup added to my props at the recommendation of the late Dennis Cavanaugh. That changed the whole personality of my boat. I went down in pitch just a bit and added cup. My boat planes so much easier it's hard to believe.

Ask some of the prop experts here like Houston Prop or similar for help.

Different verse same story. I am assuming that trying to get on plane the prop is cavitating. Had a stock 30, cavited bad on takeoff, had labbed, now only time I can get it to cavitate is after on plan when motor is in power band. I think you should also have more speed for the HP you are running. like closer to 90.

i had two different problems with cavitation.
1. i installed a drive shower, and the pickup caused cavitation.
2. i installed a water pickup for my intercooler too close to the drive and
it caused cavitation.
just my $.02
