Exhaust manifold question

Can you use standard 4" Mercruiser risers with the Mercruiser racing/Gil manifolds like what come on the HP500? I have a chance to get a set of these manifolds to replace my stock cast iron ones and am wondering if I can use my stock 4" risers. Thanks for the input.

Re: Exhaust manifold question

Nope. very different, the Gils do not pass water through the connection like the stock merc risers do. Sorry

Next question then is what risers would I need to have that will work with a silent choice set-up. Thanks for the help

I have a pair of imco shorties elbows that diverts water through the riser from the manifold. If your interested pm me. You will need short elbows with that silent choice setup, plus a wishbone, I belive i have all of that sitting in my garage at the lake house.

Re: Exhaust manifold question

I'm Assuming That The Gill Manifolds You Have A Line On Have Long Risers And Your Running Silent Choice With Your Stock Manifolds.if This Is The Case You Could Shorten The Risers.i'm Pretty Sure If You Advertised Them You Could Find Someone Who Would Swap You Straight Up Because The Trend Of Power Boating Is That As You Build Higher Performance Motors You Have A Tendency To Go Away From Silent Choice.i Just Lengthened My Stainless Marine Manifolds And Ditched My Silent Choice This Year.if You Are Going To Keep The Silent Coice The Reverse Angle Diverters Are Better As They Introduce The Water Further Back In The Exhaust Stream.

Re: Exhaust manifold question

The manifolds I am looking at do not come with the risers. I would like to keep the silent choice for those no wake zone and around the dock when the marine patrol is out times. So I would need the short risers then. Thanks for the information.

Krumbsnatcher, I do not have a access to the PM tool. I am interested in what you have to offer. Please send me an email with what you have and a price. What is the wishbone that you are talking about?? My address is [email protected] Thanks
