I may need a 502 Longblock
Where is the best place to buy one from? Price service etc.? Or am I better off rebuilding mine.
Thanks Rob |
Re: I may need a 502 Longblock
For "stock" 502s, I've gotten them from Scoggins-Dickey. Rebuilding depends on what needs to be done, and whether you plan on paying someone to do it.

Re: I may need a 502 Longblock
If you are in fact looking for a long block (with heads), as opposed to a short block (without heads), beware that most crate engines are intended for automotive use and do not have exhaust valves that are compatible with marine use.

Re: I may need a 502 Longblock
Who sells just short blocks?
I have a set of heads, along with a lot of other parts, that I could use to put a base engine together. Every place I seem to find, will only sell long blocks. Would be nice to have a spare ready considering I blow one up about every two years. |
Re: I may need a 502 Longblock
www.1800runsnew.com I have 2 of their marine crate motors and have been very happy with them.
