Possible to have GPS screen show depth ?

I need one more spot on my dash board, and was wondering if they make something that will allow your GPS show depth. this way i can get rid of my depth finder and have the room i need.

Depending on the model there should be a comparable size unit that shows GPS and depth (will say fish finder in the catalogs). Of course, you do have to buy an all new unit and install the matching sounder. I have a Lowrance unit that has GPS and depth, and many modes in which you can display combinations of them both.

I got a SIMRAD Chartplotter---it has GPS/Depth sounder/Speedo/Water Temp

Check with Bethel Marine Electronics in Melbourne for good service and pricing--they have a website and know the whole market--

I have a garmin gps/fishfinder which by changing screens i have a gps screen with a narrow depth finder on one edge. If I need more info, for either the fishfinder or GPS, it is simple to change to just one or the other, then back.

I have a garmin 178 Color GPS / sounder,,, it's brand new and I am just learning how to use it,, but the fish finder/sounder part still uses the crappy in hull transducer that loses the depth at anything over IDLE !!,, BUT I am pretty sure,, that the GPS part itself shows the depth's,, just not sure if I need to buy certain software for it,, will look into it tonight..

I've got a 188. Are you using that transducer that you're s'posed to fill with mineral oil? I can't get mine to work either. I pulled it out of the oil, and shot straight through the hull by hand and it worked better. So I resin'd it right to the inside of the hull. Still doesn't work with a damn.

So i would have to have a GPS/Fishfinder combo for this to work ?

This is the unit i currently have. I guess i will find an online manual and look through there for further options on somehow hooking it up to the transducer on the hull.

I've got the "seducer" epoxyed to hull just in front of engines--works great at idle and standing still---after that I'm told turbulence in water from hull (and small airrbubbles) caused by turbulence is what makes the things little moire than decoration.

My new SIMRAD transducer is transom mounted and somewaht better at slow speeds--

The only real answer is a thru hull with a fairing block---damn the luck.

At least I knew when tide has changed in slip~~~

Dude, You should have asked this when we were rafted up.
If your depth sounder has a NMEA out-put and the GPS has a NMEA in-put then the will work
