Hydraulic Steering question

Ok, so I got my dual ram hydraulic add on system installed, and finally got to take the boat out last weekend and test it. It works great, but there is slop seemingly in the cable settup before the hydraulics kick in and steer the boat. I can move the steering wheel back and forth prob 6 inches without it doing anything, and then just a lil more and it kicks in and works perfect. Does anybody know is there a way to adjust the slack out of the cable system? I didn't know if there was an adjustment at the helm, or somewhere in the cable or ??

Thanks.!

Re: Hydraulic Steering question

You need to get a hydraulic helm. I've seen exactly what your talking about and the only solution is full hydraulic. It will make a world of difference, you will love it.

Re: Hydraulic Steering question

I agree with D. Dave, I am having a full system installed just because the existing system is so old and I expect that the same would have happened to me if I had decided to go with a Add-On system. Hope you can get the slack out without adding the hyd. helm.

Re: Hydraulic Steering question

Full hydraulic from helm back is the cure.
