Re: Help With Buddies New Power Quest Prop Size

I have an 02 with a 496 HO. The best I have seen is 66 on gps about 68-69 on the speedo. When I went out this year for the first time it was only 60 degrees, when it gets hot and humid I loose 3 to 5 mph. Bravo 1 24 pitch about 4900 to 5000 wot. I would think that boat would run 65 mph just about anytime. Also I didn't know that engine was still being used. If it is a 500hp it should run over 70... Hope this helps....

BillR knows the answer to this one because he ran a solid 68-69 with his 28 PQ/502 EFI a couple of years back.

1/2 on the trim is too far. "Just" over 1/4 is about right.

My boat ran best with a labbed 26 p Bravo 1.
He "should" be getting 64 to 66 with stock prop.

Re: Help With Buddies New Power Quest Prop Size

Sounds like too much trim. Make sure you trim to max speed. More trim isn't necessarily faster, just more prop slip and lost speed. If the boat has a big rooster tail while at speed then thats too much trim. Before your friend makes any adjustments to anything he needs to be familiar with the boat. When he is comfortable with the boat he can consider making modifications to the boat and prop.
