Shift/Throttle cable compatibility

A friend is wanting to convert his single arm Commander 3000 throttle/shifter to a merc. zero effort separate throttle and shifter set up. Does anyone know if he will have to swap out cables or are his current ones compatible?

Re: Shift/Throttle cable compatibility

If I'm not mistaken, pretty much all cables are standard, the only thing different are the ends, and they screw on and off, so he would need an end for the zero effort, which I belive is a hook kind of deal that screws on to the end of the cable. They should come with the shifter if he is buying new.

3 Attachment(s)
The zero effort control require Morse 33c style cables. (First pic)
If the current cables looks like the second pic, you need the adpter kit in pic three.

Re: Shift/Throttle cable compatibility

any help appreciated.

Re: Shift/Throttle cable compatibility

Dtile, you are correct. Must use 33C style. 38KV, the adapter pictured is to convert a 33C to Merc style at the engine end.

Marc, did you ever find the part number for those adapters?
I removed my old Morse throttle and am going to install the Zero Effort controls. I believe my cables are the 600A cables.

Thanks
Patrick

Patrcik, I am not sure what a 600A is. Can you post a picture?
