Oil Filters

Is There A Advantage To Running Larger Capacity Oil Filters. I Purchased New Oil Filters From The Merc Dealer And They Where Half The Size Of The Bosch Filters That Where On The Motors.

Re: Oil Filters

ELECTRICAL 1...Does you engine have the bypass in the block or not? If its in the block you shouldnt have one in the filter. Some filters are not compatible on this basis despite the cross reference listings. This is the risk with Pattern parts.

One of the things I would like to know is the filters capability when 'it' and the oil are half way through their service life. Does the filter go to bypass on a decreasing RPM threshholds against time served. Reducing the RPM window in which filtering happening?

Re: Oil Filters

I wish I had scanned the photo of the 1500 hp sterling powered Bacardi Silver engines with the regular old FRAM oil filter on it from P.B. magazine.. I was kinda wondering why they would put a CHEAPIE oil filter on a 100,000 plus motor.. ??
