Fuel sending unit Fountain 27
Where will I find the fuel tank sending unit on my '98 Fountain 27? What is involved in its replacement? I am getting very inconsistent readings on the gauge, any other suggestions or remedies? Thanks!

There is an inspection cover in the rear seat storage floor. It will give access to the sender and fuel conection.

They usually read full for along time, then drop like a bomb. General censes is that when you hit 1/4, find gas. Soon

I ran out the other day,,(my first year with this one,a 29 fountain)bummed 5 gal and it read over 1/8th on a 112 gl tank. Go figure.

Re: Fuel sending unit Fountain 27
Thanks for the input, as you can see I am new to the forum. The gauge is occassionally correct, other times it is far below "Empty" like it has lost its connection or ground, a little consistentcy would be nice. Will inspect next chance I get. Peace

Re: Fuel sending unit Fountain 27
My 27 Fountain is doing the same thing. The gauge stays on full all the time, then suddenly you look down and it's on 1/4 tank or below. I have checked the connections, they look Ok. Has anyone replaced one of these sending units and had success at fixing the faulty gauge readings ? Thanks

Re: Fuel sending unit Fountain 27
ok, don't own a Fountain, but I did help a friend of mine with a 28'AT with twin small blocks rework his fuel sender. The boat was ass heavy like the fountains, and the fuel gauge was a 1/2 tank off, so at 1/2 full it was actually empty.
When the tank was about empty, we unhooked the wires to the sender, and removed the (6) screws holding the sending in (being careful with the gasket) with the sender out, we bent the float rod at an angle, and reinstalled. We did this a couple of times to get the readings close to right, then at final install we applied a small bead of RTV with the gasket and re-tightened. It was fixed. Took us a couple of hours on a Saturday. |
