Thermostat housing for 174 B&M blower

Looking to run a thermostat in my 454 and still use the 174 blower. I seem to recall reading once that a thermostat could be modified to allow min. flow by drilling the flange, would anyone be framiliar with this proceedure? Also, is there a thermostat housing available to run using the 174 blower?
