TRS parts ?

I have read here that Mercury is planning to stop production of TRS parts sometime this year. Is this true? Is there an official statement from Mercury, or has this just been a rumor?

I'm trying to decide if I should sell my boat before parts aren't available. I know about the Konrad 540, but I don't think that I want to spend around $20k or so for two drives and external steering since I don't have that either.

Is someone going to start making the parts (heard that one too)?

Re: TRS parts ?

When I was at the Miami boat show I had asked this question to one of the Mercury reps. He said by the end of the year, TRS parts will be discontinued.

...one the plus side, a decent used TRS drive is pulling decent $$ because they will be getting harder to come by.

After we installed the Konrad drives, I sold some of my TRS stuff (3 drives and t/a's) on ebay. So far I've collected $7500 and I still have one drive left.

That sure takes a bit bite out of the Konrad swap! And now you will never have to even think about your drives.

Yes, GLH. You can treat it like an ANVIL!!!

TRS parts will still be available, Mercury just doesn't sell them anymore. People have TRS parts........

Will they be new parts?

Will they be built to print and process?

Will they be available overnight, next day air???

Hey FSPROPELLER,

Tell the guys that I've been testing the Konrad product so much, the water cops are chasing me all over the lake!

The Konrad 540 is the real deal. I can't break 'em!

...and I break everything :D

So you are going on just what the Merc rep said. Maybe Merc wouldn't make an announcement, but that is not so good regarding the # of TRS users out there.

Also if you are hammering the crap out the Konrads, what are you running for trannies / hp?

Jaybird, I'm running a pair of 700hp 671 blown 468's with Huber trannies.

It's been bulletproof all season.

Hey Jaybird:

You can use internal steering with the Konrad as they have internal tiller arms. It is not recommended because the risk at high speeds but is possible.
