Re: Defuser Ring on a prop

Diffuser ring.

Originally designed to help keep exhaust gases from affecting take off on thru hub exhaust props.

It was found to be of some benefit on performance props that did not have exhaust going thru them.

On high X applications, the diffuser ring will lift the stern. Cutting it off will usually net bow lift. For some reason, cuttingit off on high X will make it easier to break loose coming out, even though there is no exhaust thru it.

Low x apps will see mixed results, but at less pronounced levels.

Thanks, people have said that Checkmates like Hydromotive props because they create stern lift. Makes sense. I just bought one off Ebay that had a diffuser ring........ and thanks to OSO, now I know what it is, and how to spell it. :eureka:
