Default small cracks in tailpipe

I noticed a small amount of water dripping where the flange of the manifold and tailpipe meet. I know there was a small exhaust leak there, but water is supposed to exit through the small holes at the end of the pipe near the tips. The tail pipes act as risers and are solid thru to the transom. This is an original Kamma setup. I put water in the water inlet and put put air to it. I looked inside the pipe and sure enough water is leaking through a small crack internally where the pipe makes its bend back downhill. A small amount of water is making its way back down to the manifold. Could this cause a big problem? And is there a place that can repair water cooled pipes? To replace the entire exhaust system would be tough because the set up is obsolete and would require new manifolds, risers, tips, holes in transom, etc...

The set is on an 86' 357kaama, Most setups have a section of rubber exhaust hose between risers and tips. this setup is solid to the tips. I was wondering if anyone had any input on this?

Thanks

Josh

Are your tailpipes stainless marine? I've got a 84 w/kaama pkg and thats what they put on mine. You should be able to get a replacement tailpipe for yours if you can't fix it . Ck with some welders in your area, see if they can Rx it for you, but you should fix it before you have a major problem.

Kaamaman

I don't know if they are stainless marine. They are original
and they are rigid thru the transom into kaama's exhaust tips with are actuated flaps.

Does this sound like what you have? If they are stainless marine do you know their number? I have dropped them off to a welder and he wants me to look for a pair just in case the repair doesn't work.

Thanks for your help

Josh

Here is a pic the pipe. The ones that are off are at the welders so I had to take a picture of the pipe hooked up. What do you think?

The manifolds actually have kaama stamped in the side:
Do ya think anyone makes em? maybe even custom build a pair?

I think the weld where the mitered elbow is has started to fail. You could pull the pipes and take them to a fab shop, but they would have to cut the outer pipes to get to the inner pipe then reweld both at this mitered joint. I think the whole setup is not so good. If I were going to keep the boat, I would convert to one of the currently available manifold/hose/tip systems. If this one pipe has started to leak, how far behind are the other three?

Yeh I know the system sucks. I have always wondered why they used this setup. I just want to get through the rest of the summer and look into options this winter. I will tell my fab guy to fix it enough to get by

Thanks

Josh
