Bravo One Power

Can anybody tell me how much power I can put on the bravo One? What can I do to make the drive "better" ? I am going to repower this winter and need some info before I am looking for a new engine. :)

Re: Bravo One Power

Well, I have a 650HP motor on a bravo I ( 28ft boat). And everyone told me that the drive will not last, however I have gotten 30+ hours so far and no problems. One thing that is a must, -- go easy on the throttles until you get the boat moving.

One this page Merc says Bravo 1 max is 400 HP.

Merc says the XR:

"Designed to handle up to 575 hp and 600 foot pounds of torque".
