Exhaust manifold and coolant temp on 496 HO?

Just curious what normal operating temps should be for the coolant and exhaust manifolds on the 496 HO? My starboard manifold runs about 165-170 and port is overheating past 200 and goes into guardian mode. Would this be a direct result of a water flow restriction to the port side at the oil cooler or something?

Re: Exhaust manifold and coolant temp on 496 HO?

Just looked at one of my Diacom data files. The files were recorded in April so the water temp was cooler. I was seeing 156-160 coolant temps. It did go up to 164 after coming off plane. In the warmer temps I see around 170-175 after coming off plane but that is by my guage not the scan tool.

As far as manifold temps. Again in April, my file shows the following.

Port Engine
Port Manifold Temp - 99-102
Stbd Manifold Temp - 91-95

Coming off plane to idle the temps jumped up to:

Port Manifold - Max 115
Stbd Manifold - Max 120
They quickly came back to right around 100 degrees.

STBD Engine
Port Manifold - 106
Stbd Manifold - 106

Off plane to idle
Port Manifold - Max 122
Stbd Manifold - Max 124

Again, they quickly returned to right around 105-106.

Hope you get it figured out.
