Merc fuel pumps, good?

Will a stock Merc mech fuel pump work on a high hp engine?

I used my stock pump on my blown 502 with a 1050 Dominator. Never any problems and always full pressure.

:) Thanks US1 Fountain, that's what I thought. I'm running a whipple charged 383sbc with a 1050 dominator, I was at the ramp with the hatch open and some guys where commenting about using a stock pump on that engine, but I told them I never had a problem yet and they just looked at me funny.

Merc mechanical fuel pumps, like the one on my old HP465 were the exact part number for everything up to the 600SC.

I assume you do have a fuel pressure gauge then. I ran 2 gauges. One electrical right after the pump which went to the dash, the other was a mechanical at the carb just for double checking. As long as you have pressure at WOT, run it.
