Re: will this motor work for a supercharger

two 950s would be too much.
I wouldn't even consider running a blower without a good set of inconnel exhaust valves.
Last summer I disintegrated a cheap inconnel exhaust valve in a 8.75 CR naturally aspirated engine at 4500 RPM. Part of wedged between the piston and head , cocked the piston and cracked the cylinder wall. Could have been allot worse.

Inconel exhaust are recommended but I think you can get by without them if you are sure there aren't any reversion issues, with too much cam overlap. With the blower you want at least a 112 LSA, so check your cam, to minimize overlap and water ingestion thru the exhaust.

If the engine is sitting on a display stand it is much less of a pain to change the valves now than when its in the boat! Those heads can be off there in 15 minutes.

Been said before, if you want zero hassles with this proposed setup call Nickerson and tell him what you have and he will tell you what you need. Simple as that. You can order all the parts from him and it will all work. Don't do things the hard way cause you do them twice.

Do the valves now or do the WHOLE motor including parts you had no intention of replacing later? Thats not a hard question to answer! Call a carb expert for your carb, its not something you want to trial and error on and MELTDOWN!

Re: will this motor work for a supercharger

I am thinking about not putting the blower on right away, it is not difficult to pull the heads in the boat so i will probably do that once i find out how it runs. I am looking at a used blower setup with a chiller but i am curious where is the best place to purchase a setup like this if i want to go new, and how much should i expect to pay new? How much is this blower/chiller/carb setup worth used but rebuilt 20 hours ago?

What Do A Good Set Of Inconell Exhaust Valves Run And Where Is The Best Place To Get Them?

Call Ferrea directly and they run right at $30 a piece. They are based in Florida. Measure to verify that your valve size is 1.88 and stem size is 3/8 probably, and the length. I believe they have those in 1.89 which will lap in fine since there is only .005 difference in each side of the valve. I used these same valves when I changed mine over to Inconel, they are a solid made piece.
