Raw Water Cooling

I have a 18.5 Power Play with a 350/260+hp Alpha SS drive and the water pickups in the drive get clogged all the time so I am installing a crank mount johnson pump is a brass clamshell pickup ok for a 70mph boat.

Thanx for the help

Re: Raw Water Cooling

clamshell no.you have to go with transom mounted pick ups.at 70 mph the water skims along the hull to fast and you will get more air than water.

Re: Raw Water Cooling

Where is a good place to get one and about how much? Does one style work better than others?
I bought this boat to hold me over until I get a bigger one (24-27 offshore something)

Thanx
