I always liked fuel injection
Still searching prices on 454/502 longblocks. Found 496 HO (420 HP) complete with PFI manifold, flexplate, water pump, dampener, coils, crank and cam sensors, and platinum plugs.
http://www.perfprotech.com/portal2/s...productID=1815 This is a stroked 454, right ?, so can I use my starter, and pwr. strng., alt, etc.? Hoses will be different too, I guess. I've got msd billet distr. and ignition. I have to buy a fuel pump anyways... Obviously, I need a thunderbolt or newer ignition (I've still got a t-bolt 4) Which one exactly and how do I adapt my msd distrib.? What else do I need to use this motor in previously non-computer boat? I have '89 7.4 carb. Thanks |
Re: I always liked fuel injection
This is not a stroked 454; it's the new generation big block and I wouldn't count on anything from a 454/502 fitting unless I read it in black and white in a GM Performance Parts book. For sure it will not take your distributor because the new engine doesn't use a distributor. I suggest that you start a new thread asking for sources of good marine long blocks. Members can then give you the scoop.

Oops! Don't need the msd, it's crank triggered.
